After School 5 Week Program Registration

After School 5 Week Program:  Tuesday’s or Wednesday’s 3:45-6:00PM

Tuesday’s-September 12, 19, 26, October 3 and 10
Wednesday’s-September 13, 20, 27, October 4 and 11

This five week program will give your child the opportunity to work on bike skills, learn basic maintenance, and how to conduct themselves out on the trail. We will focus on a different skill each week and teach them how to make good decisions when they are out mountain biking. Participants will be placed in groups based upon ability. The first day will consist of skills and fun games that will help coaches place your child in the group that best fits and challenges them. One day will be dedicated to trail work to give back to the trails here in Pagosa!
Logistics:

Kids will meet coaches outside the Middle school when school is dismissed. Kids will need to have their mountain bike and gear ready to go when they get done with school. Bikes can be locked on the bike rack outside school during the day. We will leave from the school to ride trails in town during the first three weeks. The last two weeks will be at remote locations. Wilderness Journeys will be transporting us to the site and we will have parents pick up at the remote site.
A day in the life:
3:45-4:00pm Kids dismissed from school, get bikes and gear together to ride
4:00-5:45pm Skill of the day/Ride bikes!
5:45-6:00pm Group debrief
6:00pm Parent pick up
What Kids Need to Bring:
If your child doesn’t have a bike, please contact janine@pagosamountainsports.com, to learn about discount rental options.

A mountain bike that fits them
A bike helmet that fits them
A backpack with:
-a rain jacket or windbreaker (even though it is sunny in the morning doesn’t mean a storm can’t move in quickly)
-two water bottles or a camelback full of water
-a healthy snack (recommendations for food that holds up on the trail: granola or energy/protein bars, apples, oranges, nuts, string cheese, carrots, hummus, pretzels, jerky, dried fruit) PLEASE DO NOT PACK: soda, caffeinated beverages or high sugar snacks.
Sunscreen
Closed Toed shoes
Weather appropriate clothing
Bike gloves (optional)
Sunglasses (optional)
