Why become a member?
Advocacy efforts, education, trail building and running a youth cycling team program cost money. In addition to the cost of building trail which averages $3-$6.00/LF, we have several other expenses including tools, storage, organizational and team insurances, events, trail crew leader training, coaches training, the provision of food and education for our hard working volunteers and member benefits. With grants, donations and funding from programs like our membership program, we can hire trail crews and machines to get trails built and maintained more quickly, and partner with state and local advocacy professionals and cycling organizations, to further leverage the work of our volunteers. Also, a large active membership gives us credibility as we work with land managing agencies such as the city, county, and Forest Service in planning safe bike routes, more trails and connectivity between the two.
When you become a member, your membership dues help fund:
- Advocacy for new trail projects
- Advocacy and education for safe urban commuting and road biking
- Trail restoration, maintenance, planning, and construction projects
- Volunteer training and education
- Races and community events
VOLUNTEER: You do not have to be a member to volunteer with us. DUST2 membership provides a way for those who can’t necessarily work on trails, or attend advocacy meetings to support our wide scope of cycling advocacy. Of course, we welcome and encourage volunteers to become members as well! Either way, it’s all about building a strong and vibrant cycling community in Pagosa Springs!
